פְּגַעII, פִּגְעָא ch. sam(פגע ngaʿim), 1) evil occurrence, plague. Targ. 1 Kings 5:18.Pl. פְּגָעִין. Ruth R. to I, 16 (ref. to אל תפגעי ib., as if it were תִּפָּגְעִי) לא תחטא עלי לא תסבין פ׳ מני (not פגעיך) do not commit a sin through me, do not suffer afflictions on my account (by dissuading me from embracing the Jewish faith). 2) pl. evil spirits.
